The Blackhorse Association salutes the 19th RCSM, Clinton Reiss for his outstanding leadership of the soldiers of the Regiment and we extend a warm welcome to the 20th RCSM, Stephen Travers who assumed his responsibilities on 10 April.

2012 BLACKHORSE REUNION

Our annual family reunion is taking shape. Come prepared to enjoy the many tourist spots in and near Williamsburg – the colonial town itself, Jamestown, Yorktown, Busch Gardens, and the Williamsburg Winery – we will assist you in finding all those places. ALLONS!We will have a great golf tournament at the Green Course of the famous Golden Horseshoe Golf Club. Our banquet keynote speaker will be GEN Bob Cone, Blackhorse alum and current TRADOC commander. COL Tony Aguto, the regiment’s 64th commander will be there to give his annual report, and, along with the brand new RCSM Travers, will also induct nine great Blackhorse veterans into the Blackhorse Honor Rolls. You will have the opportunity to attend a ceremony at Fort Eustis to dedicate a new TRADOC building in honor of General Donn Starry. Phil Keith, author of "Blackhorse Riders" will make a presentation and conduct a book-signing. The Blackhorse Store will be there each day selling their wonderful memorabilila and clothing. All that and lots more – with plenty of time to spend with old Blackhorse friends and to get to know new ones.

DR. WOLFGANG HAMBERGER’S QUARTERLY SITREP FROM FULDA

Former Lord Mayor of Fulda Dr. Wolfgang Hamberger’s support and devotion to our Regiment continues as he updates us from our Regimental home in Germany.

Dr. Hamberger tells us that reconstruction work on the historic former Blackhorse hanger in Fulda has been completed and was recently used for a German-American student project. Also, the Point Alpha Academy in Geisa is now open and has taken its place as an another important preservation site of Cold War history. opens in a new windowClick here for his full reportopens PDF file .

HOEDOWN FUNDRAISER A BIG SUCCESS

Steve Spriggs, President of Newport Harbor Post 291 reports a grand time was had by all at the 7th Annual Hoedown in March. The members graciously conduct this fundraising effort each year to support The Blackhorse Association Scholarship Fund. Post 291 is one of our largest single supporters of the scholarship fund.

We are grateful to Steve and Post 291 for their wonderful support of the Regiment and the Blackhorse Association.

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA BLACKHORSE POTLUCK/BBQ ANNOUNCED

MOTORCYCLE SAFETY DAY

The 1-221 ARS, Nevada Army National Guard, has announced that Motorcycle Safety Day will be held 21 April 2012, 1100-1400, at Clark County Armory, 6400 Range RD, Las Vegas, NV 89115. There will be vendors, a raffle, skill demos, safety checks and free food. This will be followed by a 100 mile ride around Lake Mead. Join the Wildhorse in promoting motorcyling and safety. Hope to see you there.
