It is with much sadness that we report the loss of SFC Christian Riege from the Wildhorse squadron. SFC (posthumously promoted to MSG) Riege was among the soldiers gunned down in a Nevada IHOP last week. He was a right shoulder Blackhorse Trooper that served with our 1st Squadron, 221 Cavalry in their recent deployment to Afghanistan.
MSG Riege leaves behind four children. A memorial service was held Sunday, September 11, 2011 at the Nevada National Guard Headquarters in Carson City for all victims. MSG Riege’s family has chosen to have a closed burial ceremony in his hometown in Nebraska at a later date. Our thoughts and prayers are forever with the Riege family.
Also killed in the attack were LTC Heath Kelly and SFC Miranda McElhiney of the Nevada Army National Guard. Our thoughts and prayers go out equally to their families.

Glenn Snodgrass and his great crew have planned an interesting reunion during the period June 7 – 10, 2012. Please register early so the planners can insure our meetings and banquet halls are of adequate size to accommodate the various events. Our attendance numbers are growing each year and we need good estimates of attendance in order to insure we do not over commit for the various event venues. It is also recommended that you reserve your hotel room early. The hotel has a very satisfactory cancellation policy. More detailed reunion information is posted at opens in a new windowwww.blackhorse.com. Notice—- that is ".com".
