Allons! and Blackhorse Forever!
John Sherman Crow
Pres. 2008-2009

General Crow appointed me to chair the nominating committee for the Blackhorse Association elections at the reunion this year in Fulda. The officers elected then will provide BHA leadership until the 2010 Houston reunion. All members of the Fulda reunion planning committee agreed to serve on the nominating committee.

On April 2nd I sent the following message to the Association leadership and it was subsequently published in an e-newsletter and placed on the website:

"The committee has studied the leadership situation of the Association, and considered many people and options. We unanimously recommend that the current slate of officers, led by John Sherman Crow, and assuming they all agree, stay in place for an additional year until an election can be held at the Houston reunion in 2010. The current team has made tremendous progress this past year and, given one more year, they can position our Association even better for the future. By our by-laws, we will have a general membership meeting at the Fulda reunion, and we anticipate the quorum necessary to handle the legal aspects. Should any member of the Association wish to submit other names for consideration, those nominations would be welcome. We ask that other nominations be submitted to me by email (jgs525@nullcox.net) or regular mail (7830 South Valley Drive, Fairfax Station, VA, 22039) no later than the 1st of June so that we have time to make necessary preparations before the reunion."

Since then General Crow has received confirmation from all of his leadership team that they are willing to continue to serve, except for one. Alex Silverman, who has served our Association for several years in many capacities (she, along with her husband, was a primary reason why the 2008 reunion in Las Vegas was such a success, and she has been the e-newsletter leader and major website keeper), is unable to continue, and we will miss her contributions immensely. However, we have found a great potential replacement in Greg Hallmark, a former 2/11 trooper in Bad Kissingen, who is an expert in websites. Greg has helped Chris Conrad put together the superb www.blackhorse.com site in support of the Fulda reunion.

Therefore, we now recommend that current slate of officers (minus Alex, and adding Greg) be reelected to a second term. The full slate includes:

President – John Sherman Crow
Vice President – Ron Miranda
Secretary – Charlie Watkins
Treasurer – Crystal Kruger
Membership – Gene Johnson
Newsletter/Website – Greg Hallmark
Scholarship – Pete Walter
Fundraising – Don Wicks
At Large – Glenn Allardyce

Should any member of the Association wish to submit other names for consideration, those nominations would be welcome. We ask that other nominations be submitted to me by email (jgs525@nullcox.net) or regular mail (7830 South Valley Drive, Fairfax Station, VA, 22039) no later than the 15th of June so that I receive them before I depart for Germany and we have time to make necessary preparations before the reunion.
